You might remember a post a while back where I was sculpting an Afro Samurai figure by hand. I have decided to switch gears and work on it in the computer. Fun thing is I am going to start from scratch... Or should I say I have started from scratch.
This is the initial body I modeled in Zbrush. I created it using Zspheres. Zspheres, for those of you that have not used the program before, are shperes that you can chain together to create complicated geometry very quickly. The total time it took to build and position the body into roughly the right place was within an hour. I still have much to do and will probably rebuild parts of it later on, but it is a Great starting point.
As you can see in the above image the face is WAY off. When creating a head in Zsphere the head starts out as a sphere as you might have guessed. after building the body I altered the shape a little to make it look more human like so I can start my next task. getting Afro's likeness.
Here you can see me working the head and features into the proper shape. I still have LOTS of work, but I wanted to post now to track my progress. The progression in the program is great, and can be vary fast. I will also be using MAYA to build the various props and some of the articles of clothing that Afro is wearing. I hope to eventually print this out and have a tangible figure, but at the same time I am going to be setting up this figure for animation.
Thanks for readin'!
